It has just broke news that US Airways is finally getting in air wifi. There entire fleet of A321s is expected to have the service by June, and they currently have the service in 5. The vendor GoGo, has been in negotiation with the airline since last summer. I would love to have in flight wifi and may just switch airlines to get it. This leaves us wondering how long it is before the rest of the airlines catch on.

These GPUs appear to be genuinely amazing! These have ridiculous statistics, and are only for someone who wants truly optimal video output:
- 480 CUDA Cores
- 700 MHz graphics and 1,401 MHz processor clock speeds
- 1.5 GB onboard GDDR5 running at 1,848Mhz (for 3.7GHz effective data rate)
We just heard about these things from Engadget, and the presentation they attended presented by NVIDIA showed 7ome promissing specs. They covered the GeForce GTX480 and the lite version, the GTX470. The above specs are for the 480. The 480 is just a liter version:
- 1.2GB of memory (607MHz, 1,215MHz and 1,674MHz clocks)
Everything else is the same.
These first sets NVIDIA’s DirectX 11 parts are betting big on tesselation becoming the way games are rendered in the future. That means the entire architecture being geared toward taking tasks off of the CPU and freeing up it’s cycles to deliver performance elsewhere on the PC. This is shown by the fact that the GTX models scored fewer 3DMarks than the Radeon HD 5870 and 5850 that they are competing against, but managed to deliver higher framerates than their competitors. That brings us to the SLI scaling on these cards, which is pretty remarkable. NVIDIA says there is a consistent 90% performance improvement (over a single card) when running GTX 480s in tandem.
